student project
haikyuu!!
bringing the community closer
context
Originally a manga, it had been adapted into an anime
The story takes place in Miyagi, Japan. The main protagonist is Hinata Shōyō, a first‐year student at Karasuno High. He joins the boys’ volleyball team, and despite being only 163 cm, he aims to be the ace — the best offensive player — of the team. The story mainly focuses on Hinata’s volleyball journey and the people around him.

overview
HAIKYUU!! was a social networking mobile app that I created for the series because I thought it would be fun to dedicate a project to my favorite anime and manga. The focal point of the concept was to provide a main outlet for Haikyuu!! enthusiasts to express themselves and to bring the community together.
challenge
My common issue when it came to fandom communities was content being scattered across various sites with some being more populated than others. With Haikyuu!! being my favorite series, I wanted to tackle this problem specifically for it. I wanted us fellow fans to gather in one huge space where we could freely share our love and enjoyment for the anime and manga.
solution
I designed a mobile app where I implemented engaging key features that would provide users an entertaining experience. They could hold discussions, post fan‐arts, download custom app icons and wallpapers, etc. It encouraged fans to gravitate towards the app more if they strictly wanted Haikyuu!! content. I used visuals that appealed to the fans which included official chibi illustrations of some fan‐favorite characters.
